Counselling

Thank you so much. My time/work with you has benefited me in such unexpected ways - I didn’t know I’d learn so much about myself in such a short time or even that there was so much to discover.

Max created a safe and accepting space in which everyone was valued and could be themselves. I felt uplifted after the session.

I was apprehensive about coming to talk about my relationship but I felt at ease with Max and it was so helpful being able to open up to my partner.

I feel more confident, recognising from your talk, that there are a lot of overlaps with the way I work, such as self-compassion, re - framing and mindfulness.
Counselling

For now, I’m comfortable that I’ve reached a good point to move forwards from. It’s not the clarity I expected but, becoming “more stable” has given me a wonderful vantage point.
It's All About You Wellbeing CIC (IAAYW) was founded in 2008 by Max Cohen to enable people in South West England to find LGBTQ+ -affirmative counsellors and other wellbeing practitioners. Some can be found in the Directory.
The organisation closed its services and activities on 6th December 2024.
During it's time the organisation
Supported, resourced, and celebrated LGBTQ+ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans+, queer and questioning) communities in South West England and the professionals working alongside them
IAAYW recognised that people experiencing emotional or physical issues or challenges want to be sure that they can trust any professional that they turn to for support. This is likely to be particularly true for anyone who identifies as LGBTQ+. We may be concerned that we won’t be met with acceptance by professionals, that we may not feel entirely comfortable talking about our lives, or that professionals may inappropriately link our sexual orientation, gender identity or relationship style (GSRD) to other issues and challenges we are facing.
We supported anyone who identifies as being diverse in, or is questioning, their gender identity, sexual orientation or relationship (GSRD).
-
Family and friends of LGBTQ+ people
-
Professionals who identify as LGBTQ+ or who have an LGBTQ+ family member
-
Individual therapy and wellbeing professionals who want to improve their awareness and support to LGBTQ+ clients
-
Organisations who want to improve their practice to do more than just tick a box when working with LGBTQ+ communities
We provided a directory of therapy and wellbeing professionals who had shown a commitment to working affirmatively with LGBTQ+ clients and their families so people can make contact with the right professional for them
We provided events, courses and groups that are relevant and meaningful, for example:
-
Wellbeing course for trans+ adults (18+)
-
Monthly peer support for LGBTQ+ counsellors, wellbeing professionals and trainee counselling students
-
Legal webinars
-
LGBTQ+ awareness for HR professionals and employers
-
Continuing Professional Development for therapists and wellbeing professionals
